Silver amalgam fillings have about 50% mercury in them which many feel presents health concerns. We are a mercury-free dentist office, placing white composite fillings.

Advantages of White Composite Fillings

There are many advantages of composite fillings over traditional amalgam. The bonding technology that is used to place them, actually reinforces the tooth structure. Your tooth will become more resistant to breaking or chipping, whereas amalgam fillings weaken the tooth.

Less drilling is required for white fillings which means as much of your natural tooth is left in tact as possible and they look much nicer too.

Over time amalgam can leak or crack. Photographed to the right, you can see how the amalgam is separating from the tooth creating a gap.
