If you are afraid to go to the dentist, you are not alone. In fact, it is estimated that over a million Americans are scared of the dentist. We don’t feel that it should be this way and want you to have a positive experience. Maybe a trip to sedation dentist Dr. Jeremy Burke is just what you need to help get over your fear.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation involves taking a pill one hour prior to your dental appointment.  We prescribe the medication Triazolam or Valium. The oral sedative allows you to reach a level of comfort higher than that of nitrous oxide alone.  This type of sedation usually results in amnesia or you not remembering any of the procedure. This type of sedation works well for single procedures such as extractions or root canals.

Dr. Burke has a special permit to allow him to use this method safely and effectively.  One of our trained staff members will monitor your vitals closely throughout the entire appointment. With sedation dentistry you will still be conscious which means your our protective reflexes, like coughing, are fully functional.

Nitrous Oxide

We use nitrous oxide or laughing gas if you have mild dental anxiety. This gas is breathed in through the nose and once it is stopped, you will be able to drive home from your appointment. For some cases, we use nitrous oxide combined with oral sedation. To learn more about this topic, please visit the nitrous oxide page.
